The UNC Bears compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), which has a total of 440+ teams nationally. Last season, we finished #6 in the ACHA DII Western Region.
We play approximately 40 games, and practice 2x weekly throughout the season. In 2016-17, we have three road trips planned -- Idaho for the Boise State Showcase in October; Utah for the Beehive Classic in November, and Chicago to play DePaul & Robert Morris in January. Our home games are played at the Greeley Ice Haus, a single sheet complex just down the street from campus. We average 800+ fans per game, and sell-outs of 1,200+ for rival games vs Colorado State and the University of Wyoming. The team has its own private locker room on site at the rink (see pictures in our Photo Gallery section!).
The cost to play for the team this season will be $2,400 ($1350 plus $400 Equipment/Apparel package for 1st Semester, $650 plus $400 Equipment/Apparel package if needed for 2nd Semester), which covers all travel expenses (except food), ice times, team gear, etc. Additional costs may occur if the team qualifies for the ACHA Division II National Tournament, which in 2016-17 will be hosted by the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets in Columbus, OH.
The University of Northern Colorado is located on 260 acres of land in the heart of Greeley, CO. Information on Admissions, Costs, and Programs of Study can be found by visiting www.unco.edu. The city of Greeley is located 1 hour North of Denver and is home to almost 100,000 residents. During their time off, our players are able to head to the nearby mountains for skiing, snowboarding, etc., at world-class resort communities such as Vail, Aspen, and Steamboat Springs. New recruits are encouraged to fill out the Recruiting Info Request below, and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
